er i think for $600 a secondhand takamine or parkwood will be better. The better guitars for takamine are expensive and parkwood cheapest is around 600+; close to 700. i think

If u dont mind getting 1st hand,

U can get the takamine eg531sc or others (mik) that cost $580 from davis guitar. The cheapest solid top is $500, takamine eg361sc or eg360sc (mic).

Both are good. Ive owned the eg361sc before.

errm, the requirements are
1.solid top
2.mahogany back and sides
3. cutaway with preamp.

have taken the maestro ED-1 into consideration but am still exploring other choices especially takamine and alvarez as some of the potential choices.

Cort maybe, but Taylor definitely won't fit the budget.. And Taylor don't have laminated mahagony sides and back. Closest would be laminated Sapele found on the Baby series and the 100 series.

Saintlumpy: Segovia might just fit your budget. They are full solids, found at Ranking. But can't remember if they have preamps built in or not.

Maestro ED-1 may cost more than 600 after factoring in the preamp and installation charges. It's not too bad, but do test every piece as each may be different. Also watch out for QC issues.

thanks for the response,

yea tried the segovia, however i still prefer the ED-1 somehow haha well am able to stretch the budget abit so i should be able to get a pickup installed, and was wanting to get the parkwood, however they are left with only the 000/ga sized wanted a dread though, actually will wait till luther brings in the takamine egc 330 and try it out first.

Hmm well, the ED1 is rather sweet sounding with Elixirs on. But after getting my GS, well, found it a bit too hollow now for my liking Tongue But tone is very subjective Smile

Parkwood wise, thought the price range is like up to 1k? Not too sure though.
